CHATEAU TRIANON AOC Saint Emilion Grand Cru { Réf produit : Y 332 } 50% merlot - 50% cabernet sauvignon HISTORY

Château Trianon is located to the south west of Saint-Emilion and its origins date back to the 16th century. The estate was a country residence and its vineyards were not farmed to their full potential until very recently, when the former owners decided to sell for family reasons.
That was when Dominique Hébrard came into the picture. In 1999, Cheval Blanc, Saint-Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé, the family estate of which he was a joint owner and director, was sold for inheritance reasons. He was already CEO of the Hébrard SA trading house at the time, and the joint owner of Château de Francs in the Côtes de Francs appellation, as well as of the Massaya Winery in Lebanon. Being Saint-Emilion born and bred, and therefore a man of the soil and the vine, Dominique decided to put everything he had into this land he cares about so dearly. As fate would have it, he came across Château Trianon and bought the evocatively-named estate in December 2000.
The vineyard was in poor condition but held great promise, so everything was done to get the whole of the estate (vines, winery and vathouse) into running order.

In 2004, Château Trianon became a part of BHL, the company which also owns Château Bellefont-Belcier, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé.
Today, the wines of Château Trianon are constantly progressing and rank among the best in their appellation.

wine advocate

Trianon 2004 : This St-Emilion sleeper of the vintage offers a dark ruby / purple color as well as notes of underbrush, forest floor currants, and sweet cherries wrapped in subtle toasty oak. Supple-textured and medium-bodied with abundant fruit, it should be enjoyed during its first 7-9 years of life. 89.

WEINWISSER N°05 /2004

wine advocate

Trianon 2002 : Made by the son of the former proprietor of Cheval Blanc, this St. Emilion performed well in my tastings, avoiding the over-extracted, dry, hard, pinched finish found in many of its 2002 peers. It offers a deep ruby / purple color as well as excellent texture, medium body, sweet cassis and cherry fruit, nicely integrated wood, and a smooth finish. Drink it between 2006 - 2014. - 89 -

Excellent! ****
